Principal's Message

Dear McGarvin Family,

I would like to extend my warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season and Happy New Year 2020!

As you know Mrs. Phan, has been promoted to Principal at La Quinta High School. We are very excited for her as she begins her new assignment.  We will miss her but know she is eager to join the La Quinta community.

In her stead, I will be Principal.  I have been the Assistant Principal at McGarvin for 5 years and understand and honor the goals that staff, parents, and fellow community members have been building toward.  I am committed to ensuring that the rest of this school year will be a positive, successful, and a productive experience for all students.

In addition, I would like to introduce Dr. Allie Bak.  She will be our new Assistant Principal.  She is coming to us from the District Office where she was a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA).  Dr. Bak is no stranger to McGarvin because from 2011-2017 she was the TOSA supporting McGarvin.  In addition, she is a former Elementary School Teacher and Intermediate School English Teacher.  She has been a part of the Garden Grove Unified School District family for 17 years and we are ecstatic to have her rejoin the McGarvin team.

As always McGarvin is here to support all students and families. Please don’t hesitate to contact us via Parent Square, email, by telephone, or just come visit us in the office – our doors are open to you.

Thank you for being welcoming to both me and Allie in our new roles.

May each of you have a Healthy and Wonderful New Year!

Warmest Regards,

Denise Kirkman
